Online Business Vs Offline Business

General Discussion

So why have I come online to create an Online Business? Well there are so many more advantages to bringing a business online. But the main reason is “Automation”

I have run my offline business for over 6 years now. Yes it is successful but it is really hard work. I am not saying running an online business is easy. It just has more advantages. They are both run the same.

You need to deal with customers, products, sales, losses, bills, paperwork etc….. Supply and demand. You have a product or service that people want and you give it to them. I run my off line business from home. It is in the construction trade. When people want something fixing or need a new flooring, decorate their house or any other maintenance work doing. I travel to their property have a look at the potential work to be done and work out a price. Or work to an hourly rate. Which means you can only make so much money. There are only so many hours in a day to work.

Now before I have even got the job I have wasted time and money travelling to and from customers houses. Work out a price which you are not guaranteed you will get the work and also I am limited to my local county for work as you would be out priced from other tradesman if you went further a field. I have a van to pay for and keep on the road. Tools and products to buy which you may get a 20 or 30% mark up. So there is a lot to outlay when starting and also running an offline business.

Now with an online business you are not limited to just your local area. You have the whole world looking in your shop window (your website). Yes you need a few things to get you up and running. A PC, website, hosting, auto-responder, an Internet connection. But the cost of these things is very cheap compared to say a £15,000 van to carry yourself and tools to the next job.

Also the Internet is becoming such a popular place with Twitter, face book and people looking for information. Information is where the money is. If people want to know some thing now they just look online to find the answers. Not like 20 years ago when you would have a trip to your local library.

The products you have on your website can be created with very little money, just time. Or even outsourced very cheaply. My free report that you can download if you subscribe to my news letter took me about 2 to 3 days on and off. But now it is created I do not have to make it again. As it is in digital format as an ebook, I don’t have to print it out or ship it to an address, you can just download it at the touch of a button. You can keep in contact with your customers with an auto responder and just write one email and send it to 100′s evens 1000′s of customers.

So in my eyes having an online business is going to give you extra time, freedom to do the things you really want to do. So an Online Business Vs Offline Business in my eyes the Online Business wins hands down.
